About Me

I'm currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Special Education at Hunter College in New York City.

My career in education began as a New York City Teaching Fellow.  The Teaching Fellows is a program that allows teachers to earn a relatively free Masters Degree while agreeing to work in one of the tougher neighborhoods in New York.  I begin my teaching career in Harlem and attended Hunter College where I earned a Masters Degree in Special Education with a specialization in Learning Disabilities.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked for the National Institute of Early Education Research at Rutgers University, conducting research of early childhood classrooms in Abbott districts throughout New Jersey, using the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test and the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale-Revised.

I've been a teacher in both the special education and general education settings in addition to being a literacy coach. In the Learning Disabilities program at Hunter College, I teach courses in the following areas: The Study of Learning Disabilities, Inclusive Education, Methods of Reading, Classroom Management and Supervised Clinical Teaching.

I created Teaching Details as a way to connect with other other educators and share what I've learned along the way.
